A Book Reviewed: Matched by Ally Condie

Matched.jpg

Hey guys! How's it hangin?! Today I'm going to tell you more about the book Matched. It's an awesome love story that takes place in a "dystopian future." (Wikipedia called it that, not me, so they get the credit) If you've ever heard of the Possession book series by Elana Johnson, and you liked it, then you'll love this one. Actually, this book came first, but both of these books have a similar plot. But Anyway, I don't want this book review to turn into a book comparison, I'll do that next post, so I'll stay back on track for ya. Anyway my friends, just sit back and take it easy, and I'll share with you the book review for Matched, found right inside the cover on the flap of the jacket. Tell me what you think! And remember, none of the following words are my own.

IN THE CITY, OFFICIALS DECIDE.

WHO YOU LOVE. WHERE
YOU WORK. WHEN YOU DIE.

Cassia has always trusted their choices. It's hardly any price to pay for a long life, the perfect job, the ideal mate. So when her best friend appears on the Matching screen, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is the one... until
she sees another face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. Now Cassia is faced with with impossible choices: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path no one else has ever dared follow -- between perfection and passion.

Matched is a story for right now and story-telling with the resonance of a classic.

OK.......... this is the last time.....

OK, I know I did it again, but I promise you that this will be the last time that I change my blog's appearance for awhile..... I just thought that I'd go for a more masculine, grown-up appearance, even though the old look was pretty nice.

Also, I'd like to tell you about the book "Crossed." It is the first sequel to the book "Matched." Have any of you heard of the book "Matched?" 'Coz if you have read it, and you love it, then you'll be ecstatic when you hear me say "Crossed is coming out November 1!" Yep. It sure is, this November 1. I'm so excited. I have Matched, and I love it, but I haven't finished it yet, but I will sometime, so I can read Crossed. Here is a picture of the upcoming book:

Tell me what you think. Have a great week!

DRAWING MANIA!!

Me Drawing at Age Seven, June 2005

When I was little, I drew ALL THE TIME. I think I started to draw when I was about six. The objects I've drawn for the longest are houses. You see, when a typical person passes by a house, their brain says "HOUSE" and then they move on. If that. That was not to be for me. Back then, (and still sometimes today) I if I were to pass by a house, my brain would see the house, notice every detail about it, and then say "oh would you look at that beautiful (or trashy :P haha!) house, I think it's interesting." (Or boring haha!) Then, I would get home, and my brain would say "let me think....... how can I take my memory of this house and mix it with others I've seen to make a 'glorious creation?'"

Another thing you should know about the drawing thing with me is that when I drew back then, I drew all day, and I kept all my drawings in our cabinet under our T.V. Before I go any further, I would like to tell you something about me: I have always been a pack rat, and when you combine a person with a passion for drawing and a pack rat you get..... ChAoS! Also, back then I didn't just draw my houses, I also viewed them. Every single day. And I never did it in my room; I always did it in the same place: in my family room, on the floor; and when I did it, when I finished looking at the drawings, I didn't put every single one back as I went, I tossed them right across the floor. So when I did that nearly ALL my drawings would be scattered EVERYWHERE, and that made a mess for my mother to walk past. My mom took some of my houses and stapled them together into booklets to help control it, but it didn't really work. And only once and awhile did I ever get rid of SOME of my drawings.

Do you like to draw? And if so, what do you like to draw?

Sad News!

Hey Guys! I have sad news. (It's not THAT sad, but I still thought I'd tell you haha!) I was trying to edit my "DRAWING MANIC!!!" post and I accidentally messed up so I had to delete It!!! I didn't mean for that to happen, but it did! I apologize. Luckily I have it saved on Microsoft Word so I promise that sometime soon I will get it back. Have a spectacular weekend, and I will talk to you soon!

Mad Libs (Again!)

Today I would like to share with you a game called Mad Libs. (Again) In case you do not know what Mad Libs is, I will explain it. Mad Libs is where you get a group of people together and you pick up a Mad Libs book, and when you have found a page (passage) you want to do, this comes next: you will see a titled passage with blanks replacing a certain word that would normally go in there. Underneath the blank spaces you will see something that either says ADJECTIVE, NOUN, PLURAL NOUN, PROPER, NOUN, ADVERB, VERB, and the like. You then start calling them out, depending on what's underneath the blank. Next, people try to apply words to the blank space, (you might want to do something crazy, just take my advice) and if you think it will work and be funny, you right that word in the blank. After all of this, finally you read it aloud to the group. If The Mad Lib is a good one, you will hear everybody cracking up. My family LOVES Mad Libs. Here, let me show you a Mad Lib that my family did: [NOTE: the underlined words are the ones that we put in]

GOING CAROLING

'Tis the mucky season for caroling! Here’s how to make everyone’s Christmas a little more merry and drowsy:

· Gather 11 of your furry friends and family space suits together. Pick out a few classic windows to sing, like “Have Yourself a Spikey Little Christmas,” “Silver Apricots,” and “Frosty the Lampshade-man.”

· Put Santa nose hairs on everyone’s heads and jump to your neighbor’s house.

· Knock 20 times on the front potato. Nothing? Knock 43 more times inadvertently.

· When your neighbor answers the copper kettle, ask if he or she would like to hear you sing a song. If your neighbor says yes, sing your willow trees out. If your neighbor says no, slash anyway!

So yeah, that’s what Mad Libs are like! Hilarious, right? Tell me what you think of this. Bye for now! ;)

Here It Is!!!!!

Yep. That's right. This is the new look for my blog. I love it!! I like how it kinda fits with fall, how it's a cloudy day in the background, but I'm not sure if it takes place during the fall or spring. So yeah, not much more to explain here; this 'bout sums it up! Let me know what you think of this.

Camp Out!!!

I am so excited! This Saturday, the boys scouts of our ward are going on a camp out! It's actually at my house, so It will take, like, forever to get there haha! :P What we will be doing there is lots of fun stuff, like air soft wars, capture-the-flag, cooking and camping outside, and we are going to watch that new Joseph Smith movie called "Joseph Smith volume 1: Plates of gold" which is really good. And yes, we will be watching it outside. On a projector. All of my friends should be there, and
this isn't the first time that us scouts have had a camp out at my house haha! So yeah, I'm real excited.

**Note: if you think that my posts are not lively enough, are vapid, insipid, or retching, than let me know and I will amp the pizzazz all the way up!! Because, I don't wan't to have a blog that's so boring that nobody reads it. I want this to be fun, and awesome, and maybe let it be the one thing you look forward to on some days.

Coming Up On One Year

On October 20, 2010 my brother, Shane, left off for the two-year mission of Bucharest, Romania for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In four days less than a month, his mission will be halfway over. After that, we will be counting down month by month until he comes home. For those of you who are not familiar with what a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is, then relax and let me (in a nutshell) tell you what it is and how it goes. A young man of at least nineteen and a young woman of at least twenty-one that belongs to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is allowed to go on a mission, where they will preach and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and God to people who do not yet have it in their hearts. What they have to do though, before they leave for a mission, is fill out certain information papers and what not and send them to the president of the church, Who is currently a man named Thomas S. Monson. He then (with the help of his presidency) deciphers which places need the gospel the most. After that is done, another piece of mail is then sent back to the soon-to-be missionary saying when they are expected to report to the Missionary Training Center, the dress code for missionaries (varying due to gender) and what and what not to bring. After the missionary arrives at the Missionary training center, they are then assigned a companion, and are taught how to preach the gospel the way Christ Himself would, and if their mission is in a foreign-speaking country then they are taught the language of the country. Soon after this, they move on to the exciting part -- leaving for their actual mission.

It may at first seem like a lot to ask to leave your loving family to go on a mission to a young man or woman, but you are blessed abundantly when you do it. Now, I haven't left on a mission, but I hope to someday. So yeah, that's what a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is like! On the next post I will show you some pictures of my brother Shane on his mission, so please check back soon. Have a great week!

It's summer!!!!

I love summer. There's so much to do, especially since all the hours of the day aren't clogged up with school or homework. I love to swim in the summer. Oh, and having sleepovers whenever you want during the summer is pretty awesome as well. Plus, my birthday is in the summer, and this year I am going to invite some of my friends over for a slumber/birthday party!!! Were going to play games, hang out, have cake and I'll open presents (of course), and at night time we'll watch a movie, and go swimming. I'm not sure which movie we'll watch yet, but something exciting, funny, or thrilling. And in case you didn't know, my birthday is on July 28, so it's coming up pretty soon! Is your birthday in the summer? Cause if it is, than we can share the excitement and anticipation with each other!

Bye for now,
